Dr. Schmidt joined JCR Pharmaceuticals in June 2020, overseeing global business strategy, business development, clinical development, and serving as President and CEO of its subsidiaries, JCR USA and ArmaGen. He previously held the position as President and CEO of ArmaGen until the merger with JCR Pharmaceuticals in 2020.
Dr. Schmidt has over 20 years of global biopharmaceutical industry experience in various strategic and operational positions including Takeda Pharmaceuticals, Nycomed, Altana Pharma, and ASTA Medica.

After working for several years at various cancer hospitals, he joined the pharmaceutical industry in 1999, where he developed a great passion for drug discovery and development, especially for protein therapeutics in rare genetic diseases. Serving patients whose hopes for better therapies rely on us has always been front and center to his work and motivation. In 2011, he was awarded the venia legendi in pharmacology from the University of Constance, Germany. Dr. Schmidt received his academic education from the University of Stuttgart and his Ph.D. from the University of Freiburg, Germany.
